It’s Spring!
First of all I have to comment on the weather in Houston. Today, I finally wore shorts. By now you all know how royally ticked I am when I have to wear long sleeves because it’s been unseasonably cold. I don’t mind cool….but cold….forget it. So I’m glad that the weather finally got the message that I live in Houston, Texas and it should not be cold in late March or April.
Ok, now that I have that off my chest, we’ve been crazy busy lately….but all fun things so I won’t complain! Last weekend, we went turkey hunting which was quite an experience. As such, I didn’t shower for 36 hours. That is a feat for me…I hate being filthy. But I did it in the name of shooting a turkey….which didn’t happen by the way. But we had a great time. Lots of nature and scenery and sitting outside enjoying breezy afternoons in a rocking chair under an oak tree….ahhh!
This weekend has been hard work, but very productive. I was off on Friday and Michael was not. I just had to put that in writing because it seems like Michael is off of work all the time for crazy holidays that no one observes besides the post office. Anyways, I got my hair done, went to Andrew’s birthday party (he turned 8!!!!), and then spent the rest of the afternoon doing some preparation for Amanda’s upcoming baby shower. Craftiness will commence when I finish this post. Firday evening Michael and I ran some errands and did some shrub trimming, had a tasty dinner and watched Pretty Woman. Michael had never seen it and it’s one of my faves! Nice and QUIET night.
This was not the case on Saturday. First off, Michael woke up at 7:30 on a Saturday. Ok, pick your jaw up off the floor…I was stunned back to sleep! He went and got a haircut then came back to yank me out of bed to get moving. We started off at the Garden Center looking for plants for our neighborhood (HOA duty) then ended up deciding we needed to get new mulch for our garden. To do so, we needed Jason’s truck. So we went to trade our car for Jason’s truck. We first made a stop at Home Depot (again) to get flowers to replace our dead ones. While there, Michael decided that this was the weekend to build a deck. He’d measured before and knew what he wanted to do, but we didn’t think we were going to do it so soon. But tonight we ate dinner on our fabulous new deck! He and Jason did an awesome job and I’m so glad to have a nice place to sit outside now. We’ll be working on making it super pretty with plants and such over the next little while.
The camera died, so no pictures yet, but I will post some as soon as I have some worth posting. Come on over and enjoy our deck with us!
