This Week’s Update

Mark FINALLY got voted off So You Think You Can Dance! Hooray! I’m pumped. Tickets go on sale tomorrow for the tour that is coming to Houston on Mike’s birthday and we are so going–and super excited about it. My prediction is that Joshua will win…he rocks.

In other news, my mom left Houston this weekend, not on a jet plane, but in a maroon Honda accord. She has headed off to Kansas City to start her new life up there as Dr. Karen Kindle. I’m sort of sad about the move because I hated growing up so far away from my grandparents. I have no kids (obviously) but when I do, it will be rough not having parents near by. I do have my dad and Liz and Andrew though, but with Andrew being 6 and in the midst of elementary school and all his activities, it’s really hard to coordinate seeing them. Michael’s parents are in Colorado now too..so holidays are going to get a lot more expensive for everyone!

Work has been a little crazy, but I’m LOVING my job and the work that I’m doing so I don’t really mind it. Last weekend we got to take a break (sort of) and headed to College Station for Chris and Lani’s wedding. It was great and Michael and I loved getting to help them out as much as we could. As an added bonus, we got to eat lunch at La Bodega (so yum), visit with our great friends the Neals, AND I got a fabulous 1 hour pedicure and manicure at Star Nails, which was my go-to nail place in college. I went with a dark color on my toes, which I haven’t done before, but I’m diggin it…except the name of the color is Mr. Jimmy’s BBQ Sauce or something strange like that, so that part I’m not so in to.

This weekend, Bip (aka Ryan Bippert) is coming to visit from Dallas and we are going to Kyle and Amanda’s wedding reception. They got married last week in Cabo (sweet!) and are having a coacktail reception this weekend. Should be lots of fun. Kyle lived with Mike and Bip one of the two years that they lived on Gilbert Street. Oh the memories.

Speaking of memories, we reminisced this weekend of our college years and the crazy parties at the Gilbert house, which Sue (Bips’ mom) was always at…we really had a great group of firends in college and miss hanging out with them. Michael especially had some great guy friends, and since I was always around I got to be great friends with them as well. It was often the guys and me going out, watching movies, etc. They are always asking me to set them up and I’ve failed miserably up to this point…but guys (I’ll let you save face and not call you out here–but you know who you are) I’m going to work on it for you! I promise!

We decided that we needed to make more of a point to get together since we all live all over the place. We’ll see how it goes, our intentions are good though and I think we’ll make it happen. We are thinking that maybe once a year or so we’ll all get together with our significant others for a weekend of golf, laying out, hanging out. It will be a great way to keep in touch with everyone, so look forward to that event.

Tonight is a Little John Way block party at the Casa de Aguas…always an exciting event and I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE that we will put up lots of pictures this weekend that are LONG over due!

Peace and hair grease!

Hi Waters!! I am sad that I missed the block party on Friday. Alex said it was fun. So, I have a question, there are two places on this post as well as one place in an email I received where you refer to your husband as “Mike” not Michael or Mikey, but Mike! What happened??? Did he get a knew nickname this weekend and I missed out??? What gives? Please clarify. :)

He cut his hair short so he needed a shorter name. Therefore, we shall call him Mike.
